Introduction to the Spyder

On July 12th 2013, I purchased this 1999 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder GS. It's the first convertible I've ever owned.

Reasoning for buying this car was I needed a daily that was a bit faster then my Eagle Talon ESi. While it was a great car, it is entirely too slow. The spyder, while not turbo, does have a nice torque-y 2.4 which is ideal for every day driving. My girlfriend owns a 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS, and it is much, much faster then my ESi.

The car has obviously been abused severely, and a huge lack of maintenance. However, the car was completely stock and unmodified. Which is exactly what I was looking for. I bought the car for a somewhat cheap price because the timing belt had broken off. Possibly needing head work done. Belt had 170k miles. I give serious props for the belt holding off that long.

Picking it up

[ Special Mention: A BIG thanks to a great friend of mine Harold for helping me pick this car up with his truck to tow it home. 100 mile trip going to get this thing in West Palm Beach ]

Bringing it home.

Here we have quick video's of prepping the car and draining coolant to get ready with the head removal.
